Hi Everyone,
Thanks for signing up to receive our quarterly enewsletter. This is our fall issue and since we last published we’ve been busy! Sales of the F* Cancer bracelet have generated over $25,000 in donations to InspireHealth
, Canada’s foremost integrated cancer care centre. And, we launched a Facebook Causes page - over 1,200 members have joined so far!
In this issue we introduce a new friend of F* Cancer Embrace Life – someone many of you have seen on CBC television’s “Dragons’ Den” – W. Brett Wilson. I’m a big fan of Brett’s and how he gives back. Brett's own inspiring story about his battle with cancer, can be heard in Prostaid Calgary’s "
Experiences from a Survivor" video.
And we’ve got two great resources for you: a book to help people talk about cancer and an interactive website to share your cancer stories.
Don’t forget to send us pictures and stories
about your own F*Cancer experiences. And if you have any friends or family who you think would benefit from becoming part of the F* Cancer Embrace Life community, please forward a copy of this newsletter to them so they can subscribe. The sign-up page is here.
Our New F* Cancer Friend

“My F*Cancer bracelet came to me as a gift a few months ago after a simply wonderful first date, from the incredible woman who is now my partner - I have never received a gift so simple in design, so creative in approach, so touching in concept or so appropriate for me. I fought and won my cancer battle in 2001. I fought and beat the terrible side effects of radiation in 2007. And the F*Cancer bracelet will remain with me as a tribute to my very personal journey. A very personal battle that is now behind me. Sadly, the cancer journey/battle lays ahead for so many more. I hope F*Cancer inspires others to fight the great fight…”

Help Me Live: 20 Things People with Cancer Want You to Know
By Lori Hope
When we hear that someone close to us has been diagnosed with cancer, we want nothing more than to comfort them with words of hope, support, and love. But often what we say feels like it sounds disingenuous or insufficient. With sensitive insights and thoughtful anecdotes, Help Me Live
provides the author's own experiences with cancer and interviews and surveys with hundreds of others who have had this disease. Each chapter focuses on one of the 20 most important messages people with cancer want to convey, such as “I need to forget and laugh;” “I want you to understand if I don't call you back or want to see you;” and “I want compassion, not pity; comfort, not advice.” You'll learn that communicating effectively doesn't necessarily mean there's a right thing to say. Help Me Live
will help you find the words or gestures to show how much you care.
If you can’t find Help Me Live at your favourite bookstore, it’s available at amazon.ca.
